Approximately four months ago I noticed that my weekly stats dropped for no reason. Since I started the site, my weekly stats averaged between 150-500. All of a sudden they have dropped to +/-35. This week, I know that I have generated reads from posting the story through Facebook sites of up over 100 yet Jetpack shows only 14. This tells me that something is wrong with the data collecting coming from Jetpack. There is no other exclamation why the stat numbers would all of a sudden drop and stay consistently low.

    Hi there @mitchellway,

After looking into the issue, it seems that the JavaScript file from stats.wp.com (e.g. https://stats.wp.com/e-202103.js) might not be loading correctly on your site.

I’m having a look at your site source code, and I do not see the needed script files being loaded.

This file is essential for tracking and displaying your stats accurately. A common reason for this could be a problem with your site’s theme.

Here’s what we can do to troubleshoot:

    1. Consider temporarily switching to a default theme to see if the issue persists. If the stats work correctly with the default theme, it’s likely that your current theme is causing the conflict.
    2. Verify if there are any new widgets or broken scripts that might be impacting the loading of the site’s JavaScript. Removing or correcting these can sometimes resolve the problem.
    3. If you’re using caching or plugins that modify your site’s scripts, these may also be affecting the stats. It’s worth trying to temporarily deactivate these and monitor your stats.
    4. Lastly, if you’re using cookie consent management plugins, these could be blocking scripts that affect stats. You can either disable the plugin or adjust its settings to not interfere with Jetpack.

I would suggest we start with these steps and see if the stats begin to reflect your site’s activity correctly.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hi?@mitchellway,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

It appears that Jetpack is reporting back to what appears normal to me. It greatly increased the stat numbers the following week. I have also added Google Analytics to my site to see other stats.

I believe that the issue is resolved for the moment.
