Hello, I used to use Jetpack for all the sites we have, geeki.ro and mobilehub.ro, but since Jetpack Stats became a paid feature, we can no longer use this plugin, as this was the main function for which we used the site.

The problem is not that we have to pay, but that we have to pay too much compared to the revenue we generate. For example, up to 2000/3000 daily visitors, a website in Romania cannot afford to pay $8 a month for statistics, as there are quite a few costs involved, such as hosting, personnel, taxes, etc.

For America or Western Europe, a price of $8 for 1000/2000 visitors might be reasonable, considering that advertising has a different value there and earns many times more than in Romania or Eastern Europe.

I would like your help in this regard, to receive a discount or to be exempt from paying until the site receives more traffic and we can afford to pay for a full subscription. Currently, we are offered a 50% discount for the first year of subscription, but what happens after that? If our site doesn’t manage to attract a lot of traffic, what do we do?

I believe your strategy could be adjusted so that your service is used by more people and to create dependent customers with a pricing policy tailored for each region, taking into account advertising prices and the income a website can generate. Payment for statistics should not be more than 1% of the site’s revenue, that’s clear.

Alternatives will always be found, but it’s a shame for WP Jetpack, an iconic plugin that was very good for free, but we understand the need for payment, just not so much.

Thank you for listening to this rant and feedback, we hope that in the future certain things will change and you will encourage sites with little traffic, even if they are commercial. News sites cannot pay for Jetpack with 1000 visitors a day.

    Have a nice day!

  • Hi @geekiro,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and thoughtful feedback with us. We understand that how costs impact our users can vary greatly depending on where they are in the world.

I have passed on your suggestions to our team so they can take them into consideration.

Currently, we are offered a 50% discount for the first year of subscription, but what happens after that? If our site doesn’t manage to attract a lot of traffic, what do we do?

After the first year, you’ll be asked to renew at the full price of the plan. It’s always possible we could change our pricing in that time, but there are not currently plans to do so right now.

If you wish to continue using Jetpack stats at that point, you can consider removing the commercial aspects of your site (ads, affiliate links, etc.) to continue using Jetpack for free. If your traffic is low enough, then it may not make financial sense to run ads on it at this time.
