Enabling Jetpack lazyload adds base64 to image code which disables rendering of WPPA share buttons! This effects the QR code, Pintrest, and Twitter share buttons. It does not effect Facebook like and Share buttons.

The funny thing is that it worked fine until I disabled the Google+ and Show LinkedIn buttons.

You don’t need and should not use Jetpack lazyload, wppa has its own lazyload feature.
See: Advanced settings -> System -> I -> Item 23 Lazy load

I googled a bit:

Instagram currently doesn’t allow you to share a photo or video from another website – you can only upload photos/videos directly from your mobile device. Since there is no sharing mechanism, there is no way for us to include a button that will share your content to Instagram.

How about a simple link to an icon Instagram account page?

You can simply write the link in the photo description like:
<a href="https://[the address]" >See my instagram page</a>
You do not need wppa code for that
