ok so i’ve done a little research and not sure if this helps anybody go in any directions but.

i’m using wps hide login, which, if you aren’t familiar lets you customize the login url to obfuscate from hackers being able to hammer your login.

since the current update with jetpack, suddenly i would just get a 404 not found page when trying to go to my custom login.

and like others, once i ftp in and rename the jetpack directory, the site comes up.

sometimes you’d also get the looped login with no bad password error or anything.

anyway, somewhere i heard that jetpack uses the wp-admin/wp-login for it’s sso login and since wps hide login captures the request that may be part of the issue.

from what i also understand is that it’s not just wps hide login, but ANY type of plugin that grabs the wp-admin/wp-login request for security issues will have problems with jetpack.

anyway, yes, right now i can’t run jetpack and wps hide login. i also use woocommerce and wanted to use the jetpack woocommerce services, but at this point i will not be using jetpack and will be removing it from all my websites because it causes this issue.

hopefully you guys come up with a workaround soon because i’m sure many people like myself would like to continue using your services.

    thanks in advance.

ps when i ftp’d in, i had to rename BOTH the jetpack and wps hide login plugin directories to jetpack.bak, wpshidelogin.bak for wp-admin to work, but once in i could rename the wps hide login folder back to normal and then everything worked fine without jetpack.

    Hi there,

Thanks for this information. Just to make sure I understand, on earlier versions of Jetpack you could use WPS Hide Login without issues?

Can you please reply here and answer the questions from this comment in another thread?

i also use woocommerce and wanted to use the jetpack woocommerce services, but at this point i will not be using jetpack and will be removing it from all my websites because it causes this issue.

If you revert back to Jetpack 8.1 you should be able to use it again until we figure out what’s causing the problem. You can find version 8.1 here:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/jetpack/advanced/

I have the same exact issue. I also have wps hide login. Once i update jetpack from 8.1 to 8.1.1, 404 page show after login. I tried to restore my site to 1 month ago, once i update jetpack without updating any plugins, i will have same error. Then i restore my site again and updated all plugins and keep jetpack in 8.1, it is working fine.

Thanks for letting us know. Could you also send a link to your site?

Also I’ve talked to another Jetpack support friend here, and they’re suggesting simply turning of Jetpack’s SSO. You can do that via wp-admin > Jetpack > (scroll down) Modules > “Secure Sign On” — you can try unchecking that.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@everyone We’ve just released a new version of Jetpack 8.2, to fix this problem. You should consequently be able to reinstall Jetpack on your site now.

    Sorry for all the trouble!
