• After installing Jetpack, my web page was totally unusable. Jetpack is strictly connected to the wordpress.com and the reason for slowness seems to be this connection. When I opened my WP page after installing Jetpack, it connected immediately to wp.com and took a time and LOT!

The idea itself is good, but not in this form.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    Thanks for the feedback!

It would be interesting to find out what part of Jetpack slows your site down. When you activate the plugin and connect it to WordPress.com, some modules are automatically enabled, and each one of them will have an impact on your site’s loading time.
It’s then up to you to decide if each feature is worth the extra loading time. The extra loading time shouldn’t be anything substantial, but if your site becomes totally unusable, it means that a specific feature doesn’t work as it should on your site.

Could you go to the following page, deactivate each module, one at a time, and let me know if you can narrow the problem down to a specific module?

    Thanks!

    Jeremy

    I am having the same problem so I just ran some tests; the biggest slowdown is connecting to wordpress.com;

Looking at the top bar of vivaldi – the data loaded goes from 2.5mb to 3.8mb as soon as I connect to wordpress.com – and I would say the page takes 4-5 times longer to load…

so from 1 second to 4 seconds

what is most bizarre about this is that the main delay after connecting to wordpress.com comes from the main image on the top of the page – it stops loading while jetpack is doing whatever it is doing.

very distracting I had to turn off the wordpress.com connection, I am using avada them for the site in question.

    cheers

I get a not allowed to access this page message from admin, I could just delete them one by one if thats what you mean, but this site is live so I am reluctant to do it.

@keniry Could you contact us via this contact form, so we can run some more tests with you and try to understand what’s happening?

    Thanks!

That page can only be accessed by admins, and when Jetpack is connected to WordPress.com. If you get an error, it is most likely because your site is not connected to WordPress.com anymore.

i too am having problems with jetpack slowing down my site. Well actually the front end is fine but the admin is extremely slow over the last day.

Once jetpack is disabled its super fast / normal. I only have a few jetpack modules activated.

How did you detect the slowness was coming from wordpress.com?

@jynk You can try to deactivate each one of these modules, to see if the problem is linked to a specific one.

Let me know what you find, either here or privately by using the contact form link I posted in my reply above.

    Thank you!
