• I have shortcodes defined in functions.php for my theme that fail only in mobile devices and only when the jetpack mobile theme is activated.

This forum says the shortcode definitions can be added to functions.php in the mobile theme folder, but there is no mobile theme subfolder in the themes folder. I presume there is a file somewhere in jetpack where shortcode definitions can be added, so can anyone tell me what it is – or how to accomplish this simple task?

This is an addendum to my “jetpack mobile theme shortcodes” post. It appears that shortcode value substitution may be exacerbated by a very fundamental design flaw in WordPress. It appears that the processing of shortcode substitutions is not recursive.

This means that any embedded shortcodes appearing between a shortcode opening tag and a shortcode closing tag are not processed. As long as shortcode opening tags and shortcode closing tags are allowed in the system it appears that the text between them must be processed recursively to perform the requested value substitution. Am I right? If I am right, the failure to recursively process the text between shortcode opening and closing tags is a serious design flaw in WordPress.

I am not experiencing the same issue. This is an annoying situation. I have installed the Elegant Themes current Divi Theme and it works just fine with Mobile when I turn off Jetpack. When I enable jetpack, it no longer processes the short codes. I think this is a JetPack issue. Arguably it could be a theme issue too so I have posted this notice there too.
