Jetpack no longer connects to WordPress.com

  • Jetpack’s statistics stopped working yesterday (times out), so I tried deactivating the plugin and then reactivating.

    Now I get this message when I try to connect Jetpack to WordPress.com

    Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host. SSL connection timeout

    Host is fatcow.com, and this was working fine a couple of days ago.
