I have this plugin installed on multiple sites Each of which has the wordpress site itself located in a subfolder and an .htaccess file is redirecting it to its correct location.

When i try to go to the “Connect to WordPress” for this plugin it loads to my home page. I have moved things around and even tried moving the installation to the home folder and removing the htaccess file to get this to connect but it never works. just reloads to my home page. I have turned off all of the other plugins on my site and tried that but it does not do anything.

The sites i have this on are:

dustenharward.com
dharward.com
dustenandrecah.com

and a few others I believe but they are all configured the same and it haas not worked on any of them.

I have tried running the most recent versions of the plugin or WordPress and tried older ones but still get similar responses.

Anyone have any ideas?

Take a look at https://dustenharward.com/xmlrpc.php

That redirects to your website when it should display a page with a single line of text reading “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”

Likely your redirect is breaking things.

well I can get that comand to work if I go to https://dustenharward.com/wpdev/xmlrpc.php

Is there somewhere i can adjust a line of code for this piece to work?

When I hit the connect to wordpress button it goes to this link in the URL: https://dustenharward.com/wpdev/wp-admin/admin.php/?page=jetpack&action=register&_wpnonce=95d367d49f

but it only loads the homepage of the site. But I see that it is getting the correct URL in the wpdev folder.

If I understand correctly, you have WordPress installed in a subdirectory and are redirecting URLs there using .htaccess. That, I believe, is the root of the issue.

The .htaccess redirect is blindly redirecting anything to any URL (including /xmlrpc.php) to your homepage. Jetpack has a built-in check when you connect a website that checks https://example.com/xmlrpc.php for existence before allowing a connection.

Your site isn’t properly responding, so Jetpack doesn’t think you are running WordPress.

You should probably look into Apache VirtualHosts (or similar, depending on your web server software) to handle your domains.
