(I’m a bit confused, because I thought it was working, but I can’t find on FB where any posts were shared that said ‘jetpack’ and I thought that’s what I saw when I first used it…)

Basically, although I have the plug-in installed and configured, and have my publicize settings all set correctly, it’s not doing it. When I first create a post, it shows the Publicize and all those I’ve chosen under the Publish tab in the ‘new post’ page in admin. SO it appears that it’s working, but my post from this morning did not show up on Facebook. However, it is showing up on Twitter and Google+, so I don’t understand what’s happening. I did the FB debug as suggested on this forum, and received the following warnings:

Inferred Property The ‘og:url’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:title’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:description’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

I am not a web developer, just a photographer who knows enough ‘code’ and stuff to get in to trouble! But I need this to be working for Facebook, and I don’t know how to do code changes for open graphs and whatever. I thought this would be simple to install and go. I will add that I have Gravity Forms plug-in activated, and All-in-One-SEO plug-in, and I saw those mentioned in a list of conflicted plug-ins but I couldn’t read the code so I don’t know if they are really an issue. But if they were, why would this be working for everything BUT Facebook? help, anyone, please. And thanks. ??

@bstharp When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).

Jetpack automatically creates these Open Graph Meta tags for you unless you already use another Open Graph plugin, in which case we let the other plugin handle things.
Looking at your site, you seem to be using the All In One SEO plugin, but you haven’t configured it to display Open Graph Meta tags yet. Try the following:

    1. Go to All In One SEO > Feature Manager, and enable the Social Meta module
    2. Go to All In One SEO > Social Meta, and configure the tags

Once you’ve done so, you should stop experiencing issues with Facebook. The errors will disappear from the debugger, and Facebook will stop rejecting your Publicized posts.

@sajjadul I replied to the other thread you started here:

Thank you I just did what you said, and will post a blog tonight or tomorrow and see what happens. I’m not sure about all the fields I need to fill out in the SEO features or the Social Meta area of SEO, but I will look at that more deeply, too.

Aaagh. I’m in deeper than I can handle, perhaps. It seemed so simple and I’m sure it was working once, a while back, but apparently not since reading the above info.

I went to All in One SEO Feature Manager, and the nSocial Meta, and I set up the tags in there as best as I could. I left Autogenerate OG Descriptions turned on; I selected “Use AIOSEO Title and Description; I typed in my site name, put in a url for a home page image (don’t know why I needed that but did it anyway). In Image Settings I chose Featured Image; I entered my Facebook Profile Admins ID, and set my FB object type to Website; left all the other tags below that checked (they were by default); set a twitter card, and saved options.

I published my post – but it showed with a default image (a blank avatar type thing). so I quickly deleted the post on FB. I went back in and set the default image below featured image, although I don’t know why it didn’t take the featured image. I have unpublished and republished my post three times now, and even with the OG tags all set, I can’t get it to post to FB. It’s also not publishing to Twitter now. Maybe because the ‘system’ knows that I had published the post once and it won’t take the feed again? I’m going to give this a rest overnight and try again in the morning but something is wrong.

Related, but a bit confusing, I tried to disconnect Google Plus account and when I went to reconnect to Google plus, and I accept the ‘offline access’, I get an error message that has a url that is wrong. As a bit of history to this, I had mistakenly changed my WordPress URL in General setting in my dashboard, and had to fix that in the SQL database; got everything working right, website displays fine, but JetPack Publicize is still trying to access that wrong url. Clearing caches hasn’t worked. Should I just start over and deactivate the plug-in and begin again? I can’t figure out how to clear the ‘old’ stuff out.

I am desperate as I’m leaving on a 5 week journey and wanted to have this all posting properly for me while on the road. any help to get this working would be SO much appreciated. tx

OK here’s an update. I have my Google + account connection working fine. But my FB connection was not posting my featured image, only a silhouette of a head/shoulders; I had a default image set too, but it didn’t take that as the default. I have since removed the default image just in process of testing things so you won’t see one there. But why is FB not using my featured image? I even tried the next choice “first attached image” but I’m not sure if images are attached automatically to posts…either way that didn’t work.

I deleted the FB post because it looked stupid, and thought ‘well I’ll just copy the permalink URL for the post and paste it to FB but I STILL get just that computer head/shoulders picture, although it shows my blog title and description fine…

Looking forward to your great assistance with this one teeny issue! Thanks.

I don’t know why it didn’t take the featured image

Facebook will ignore all images that are smaller than 200x200px, so that could be what’s causing the issue here.

Could you try with a new post, and a large Featured Image?

Maybe because the ‘system’ knows that I had published the post once and it won’t take the feed again?

That’s correct. Jetpack Publicize only pushes newly published posts, and will ignore all posts that were already published.

Strange. My image in my blog post is 620 x 413 or so pixels at 100 dpi so that is large enough. I will have to check on what my wordpress dashboard is sizing the featured image to if I can even see that. But I don’t think there’s any other way to set the featured image size…I know that when I used featured images with other blog sharing apps it worked with Facebook, so this is puzzling. I’ll check it out though and publish a new blog post later today.

So even though the newly published post was retracted (changed back to draft status in WP dashboard and updated), and deleted off Facebook, Jetpack still knows that when I publish it again it’s already been published…something to remember!

    Thank you.

That should indeed be large enough; you don’t need to resize your images for Facebook, as long as they’re larger than 200x200px Facebook will be happy.

It’s worth noting that to get the best looking previews, your images have to be larger than that. You can read more about it here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images

That’s correct. The only way to publicize that post again would be to copy its contents into a brand new post, publish that post, and delete the old one.
