Jetpack disappeared from my dashboard and I’m not getting any stats reported for today. The first time I visited my dashboard today it said the file does not exist (sorry, didn’t take a screenshot but I think it was jetpack.php?) and this was before I upgraded to the latest version of WordPress today. After upgrading that error message disappeared and so did the plugin – but when I tried to reinstall it I got an error message – the file already exists.

This seems similar to the error someone else reported today, except that my error was present before the upgrade. I am not as skilled technically as I would like, and I’m not sure how to resolve without losing my stat history. Please help.

Also, I see that I got an email stating that Jetpack failed to back up my site:

    Error reference: 180293810/SP-2100-/backup-connection

And I keep getting emails from Jetpack that they are having trouble backing up my web site.

    Hi @wordpressiguess

I can see that Jetpack is currently disconnected from your site, but we have been able to take a backup today for you.

It sounds like Jetpack did not get completely removed, and so there is still a Jetpack folder on your server, and this will not allow you to reinstall because it thinks it is already installed.

You’ll need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/plugins/ and delete the whole /jetpack/ directory there.

Once that’s done, you’ll be able to reinstall Jetpack normally from **Plugins > Add New** in your site’s Dashboard.

Note: As a paying Jetpack customer, you’re entitled to priority support for this issue.

If you need more help, could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

We’ll be able to provide much faster support this way.
