    Hello!

Right after my co-blogger updated the Jetpack plugin it stopped working on our site. We only noticed that after a few days, when the stats stopped appearing. At first we thought it must be a problem with the update, so we waited to see if there would be a new one. However, I realized today that all Jetpack Widgets disappeared from the blog as well. Not only that, but the Jetpack Plugin itself also disappeared from the plugin page.

So I assumed that maybe my co-blogger deactivated or deleted the plugin. However, upon trying to re-install the plugin (and after talking to her) I realized that was not the case.

When I try re-installing the plugin I get following message:
“Installing Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com 3.1.1
    Downloading install package from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/jetpack.3.1.1.zip…
    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the plugin…
    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/p3nexnas05_data01/56/2088656/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/
    Plugin install failed.”

Yet the plugin does not appear in the installed plugin section.

To test it out I installed the Jetpack German (de_DE) extension today. This I could install. When I click on Jetpack Settings (from the main plugins panel) I get following error message: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” The URL that clicking on “Jetpack Settings” leads me to is “https://bookshelfreflections.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack”.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? My co-blogger and I are complete failures when it comes to coding, servers, etc. so we have no idea how to fix this. All help is much appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!
    Karolina

  • Hi Carolina!
I had this problem when installing other plugins also!
There are several ways to fix this, you can pick one of the methods below:
    Method 1: FTP Access
You can log in to an FTP program such as FileZilla, I reccomend this.
Simply get your FTP information by logging into your host (provider), and selecting “FTP Details” or “View FTP” or “FTP Access”, or etc.
When you get your info, log in to FileZilla, go to public_html, then to wp-content, then go to plugins, and select Jetpack. Right-click it, and tap “Delete”.
Now you can simply download this plugin again and you will not get this error.

Method 2: Use File Managers’ (RECOMMENDED)
Get your FTP details like last method. Fill it into one of the links below:
    1. 000webhost Official File Manager
    2. Windows-Looking 000webhost File Manager
simply select “FTP Editor”, or “File Viewer”, or “Manage Files”, or etc. From here again, go to public_html, then to wp-content, then go to plugins, and select Jetpack. Then delete it…
    Now, reinstall Jetpack…
    Method 3: Use Built-In FTP
When you log in to your host, and select your website, then you can simply select “FTP Editor”, or “File Viewer”, or “Manage Files”, or etc. From here again, go to public_html, then to wp-content, then go to plugins, and select Jetpack. Right-click it, and tap “Delete”.
Well again, you can reinstall your plugin agian.
