Jetpack Plugin ‘New Post’ Email Subscriptions Sending Full Text (Not Excerpt)

    When people subscribe to our blog, they’ve always received a synopsis of our new posts with a link to see the full story on our website. Suddenly in the last month or so, it started sending the full story instead. This is using installed wordpress with the JetPack plugin. How do we fix it to only send partial text instead of the whole story?

    Hello, there.

    Can you first make sure that the “Excerpts” setting is on, inside your wp-admin dashboard?

    You would go to Settings → Reading from the left-hand side, and locate the option for “For each article in a feed, show” – Make sure that’s set to “Excerpt.”

    So you’re confirming here that the excerpt setting is selected and Jetpack subscription emails are now disregarding the setting and sending full text?

    Did anything on your site change between the time it behaved as expected and when it started sending full text in emails? A new theme or a theme update, new plugins, anything? Also – is there anything different about how you’re creating and posting new content now?

    Also – can you share your site’s URL here, so we can take a look?

    I can’t think of any major changes that happened recently other than typical plugin updates. No difference in how we post or create content either. The website is https://www.advpulse.com

    I have an update. I tried setting the WP reading setting to ‘full text’ and then back to ‘excerpt’ and that seems to have cleared whatever setting was changed. It seems to be fixed now. Thanks for your help!
