When I activated the JetPack Protect I’m allowed to logout and login once. The second time I logout and login, the login screen includes a math problem with a statement that asks ‘Prove your Humanity.’ When I solve the math problem correctly, I receive the following error: Fatal error: Class ‘Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate’ not found in …/wpcontent/plugins/jetpack/modules/protect.php on line 221. I actually shouldn’t receive the Math Authentication question at all since I listed my IP on the Protect White Page.
I ended up having to disable Jetpack.php so that I could get back into my website.

Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Same problem here. I turned Protect off, but I’d love a proper fix instead.

    I’ve got the same problem.

There seems to be an open issue for this error from Jetpack themselves:

    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/1841

Same issue, not on wp-login.php but a custom login page. After entering credentials we now get a new page w/ the jetpack_protect_process_math_form. When you correctly enter the math you are redirected to the homepg, you are not logged in, not do you get any error from the JP form.

Go back to the custom login page and the same thing happens.

However, on the wp-login.php page the math appears in the form and works when correctly answered.

This happened after updating JP this morn, which came w./ Protect default on (then auto-deactivated Bute Protect. I deactivated Protect and ll works well. Maybe all that needs doing is adding the math turing to the custom login page: which uses the wp_login_form() form. Is there a filter or method for adding jetpack_protect_process_math_form to the output of wp_login_form()?

Or can I just re-activate Brute protect to get login security?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Thank you all for the reports. As @arkonlabs mentioned we’re aware of the issue, and are currently looking into it. You can follow our progress here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/1841

I’ll post again here as soon as I have some news.

In the meantime, I’m afraid I can only suggest that you deactivate the Protect module.

Same problem. Could someone please tell me how to access the site to disable the protect plugin?

@costaricaguide You should be able to use FTP or Cpanel to delete the jetpack folder from your plugins folder on the server – find it here:

    wp-content
      plugins
         jetpack - DELETE THIS FOLDER

Once you’ve done so, install this small plugin on your site:
    https://i.wpne.ws/aRoP

Activate it, and then reinstall and activate Jetpack again. The Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate protect should be gone, and you can then disable and delete the small plugin I mentioned above, and keep using Jetpack without the Protect module until we release a fix for that issue.

    I hope this helps.

Same problem. Could someone please tell me how to access the site so I can disable the protect plugin? I can’t login because error appears every time

@costaricaguide Could you try to solution I posted above, and let me know how it goes, or if you get stuck somewhere?

Sorry Jeremy, something weird going on with this thread too because I just posted a thank you but don’t see it. Anyway, thanks again. Had to go to root access on the server to get rid of jetpack because FTP and CP wouldn’t delete the owner Nobody files but I’m back in now.

    @jereme Herve

I posted else where but got the answer from you above.

    Thanks.

I get the feeling that if I delete this https://i.wpne.ws/aRoP then I am back to the old problem. So I have kept it.

@johanhorak Once Jetpack is activated, you can delete the plugin. The Protect module won’t be activated, unless you go to Jetpack > Settings and manually activate it.

I try to delete Jetpack folder. After that, my site still locked out.
    Oh men, help me please…

You say you tried to delete the folder.

    Is it gone?

If you tried and failed to delete it by ftp or Cpanel it’s probably because you don’t have permission to delete the folder. You will have to log on the server as root or contact your host and ask them to logon as root and delete the folder for you.

It’s gone, i don’t have Jetpack folder on wp plugin anymore.
    But i still can’t login.
