Jetpack related posts: Layout of the post grid, when showing more than 3 posts

Hello,
I’ve added the code to change the number of shown Jetpack related posts from 3 to 6. But on smaller screens, when there is only room for two columns, it shows 2 posts on the first row, but only 1 post on the second row, 2 more on the third row, and again one last on the fourth row.
I would like to have 3 posts wide on wide screens, and would like to have two posts on each row on a smaller screen.
I did find this support question that gives code when you just want to show 2 colums max (and fixing the weird row breakage), but I really don’t know how to alter this for my own needs.
(that being said: is there also a way to change the width at which it goes from 3 to 2, and 2 to 1 columns)
