    Hi support,

I’m wondering if the jetpack scan send information outside the website, in the US for example?
Or the scan is made only on the website?

    Kind regards

    Mat

    Hi @mattmary,

Jetpack scans only the website, and it scans only the WordPress directory and all the files within it, which also means it can work only for a site created using WordPress.

You can learn more about it here.

    Hi @bizanimesh

    thank you.
But does this plugin send data outside the website (for example IPs, files content)? Does it use an external API?

    Kind regards

    Mat

    Mat,

Your files are externally brought to our secure servers in order to perform the scanning and fixing functions. Upon a threat being fixed, the changed file is placed back on your site, or the offending file could also be removed during the process.

I have a social network that also used for project management – built on buddypress. I have wanted to allow people to upload files to share. I use Jetpack. Would Jetpack scan the uploaded files in different formats for malware?

I haven’t allowed it yet because I didn’t know how it worked. One Example site of mine is ColleagueChat (a work still in progress). Thanks, Peter

PS, I allow audio, video, and images through rtMedia. But I would like to allow other files if I knew they would be scanned by Jetpack. Thanks for your advice:)
