    Hi All,

I am trying to add facebook and Google plus connections in sharing settings. Getting below error message. Earlier, I had facebook connection but tried to change it. Now it doesn’t work.

    Error Message:
Something which should never happen, happened. Sorry about that. If you try again, maybe it will work. Error code: -32601

    Steps I have already tried:
    1. Re-installed latest WordPress
    2. Deactivate sharing from jetpack and reactivate back
    3. Tried multiple times.
    4. Also tried searching the error code on this forum and elsewhere.

this is my blog url, just in case you want to have a look:

    Thanks in advance.

No i didn’t. I have removed the connection and not posting automatically.
Let me try it again and will get back if it works.
I think it’s something to do with either W3TC or the CDN.

It got resolved now. I am documenting it for others’ benefit plus my future reference.

ok here is what I did.

    1. Disconnected Jetpack and tried to reconnect — Didn’t work. Was not able to connect at all.

    2. Disabled all caching, Deactivated W3TC and tried to reconnect Jetpack. — Didn’t work.

    3. Optimize and Repair Database – Didn’t work.

    4. Reset .htaccess file contents. – Worked!!!

Didn’t waste time chasing my hosting provider (it was mentioned on some other threads). I have other blogs on same hosting account and it’s working fine.

    So follow these steps:
    1. take full backup of your website (Files as well as DB).

    2. Disable W3TC, if you use it.

    3. Rename your .htaccess file to htaccess_backup or something else. Caution – Your pretty permalinks will stop working.

    4. Create a new .htaccess file using the default contents from below link:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/htaccess

    5. Connect Jetpack to WordPress.com

    6. Restore .htaccess from backup.

    7. Enable W3TC if you use it.

Since I started this thread and problem is resolved, I will close this thread.

Unfortunately this did not work when Cloudflare was involved; even with caching disabled by enabling development mode.
