• I installed the Jetpack Facebook Like Box on my WordPress Website, but I keep getting this error message in the Facebook box: “To use Facebook’s social plugins, you must switch from using Facebook as Humane Decisions to using Facebook as Jennie Richards.”

I have a Facebook Page called Humane Decisions, like my website name, but this message keeps coming up. Once I do the “switch” to Jennie Richards — it works, but then it keeps defaulting back.

    What can I do?

  • Hi, I haven’t had a chance to test this theory, but I would guess that it defaults back when the Facebook page that you are logged into changes. I would try running your Facebook pages in either a “private” window (in Firefox) or an “incognito” window (in Chrome). If that doesn’t help, and nobody else has a better answer, I’ll try to duplicate it on my end. Let me know.

Hi, I use Safari as my browser, so do make your suggestion work I would always need to use Chrome or Firefox?

It seems every time I go to my “personal” Facebook page that’s when it breaks on my website. My business page on Facebook was set up as a “Page” from my personal account. Supposedly this isn’t an issue and you can set up as many “Pages” as you want under one account.

Is there a better plugin? I do like JetPack’s Facebook Like box, but if this continues, it’s not a good user experience at all. My site is https://www.humanedecisions.com.

    Thanks very much,
    J

Hi, Good news, Safari also has a private browsing mode. This Apple Support article will help you use it. From reading up on this a little, you are not the only person with this problem. But, if I’m understanding correctly, when the problem happens, it is only happening to you, not to other users of your site. You could check that out by looking at your WordPress site on another computer that isn’t logged into any of your facebook accounts, but might be logged into somebody elses account.

This all feels a little complicated, please let me know if it doesn’t seem to make sense.
