Jetpack Slider. Cannot add links

As far as I can tell, you’re unable to add links to images in Jetpack’s slideshow block. That strikes me as extremely limited. Am I wrong and this can be done?
It’s extremely frustrating to have to use lots of plugins for every little thing that should be standard.
