    Hi @physixfan,

I’ve restored your historical stats to the proper site URL. It looks like you’re not properly connected to Jetpack on the production site though, so be sure to do that as soon as possible: https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack

To prevent this mix-up from happening in the future, please use the following method when migrating between a production site and staging site:

    1. Temporarily disconnect Jetpack on your production site

    2. Create your staging site

    3. Set your staging site to Jetpack Staging Mode by adding define( 'JETPACK_STAGING_MODE', true ); to your wp-config.php file. More on this here: https://jetpack.com/support/staging-sites/

    4. Reconnect Jetpack on your live site

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks! Everything works now!

Our site is managed by WPEngine, and the staging site was created during an urgent debug process by their customer service team. Doing several steps on a plugin before creating a staging site seems like a burden, and i believe many sites will forget to do this. I would really appreciate it if Jetpack can let us point out whether a website is a staging/duplicate after is is created, and i believe this will make life easier for many websites in the future.

    Hi @physixfan

When you accessed your staging site, you should have been presented with a “Safe Mode” screen that would allow you to designate the site as a duplicate for staging purposes. You can read more here:

Yeah i remember seeing this safe mode screen a while ago, but not this time when the staging site was created. Not sure why it did not show up this time.

BTW, this safe mode screen showed up in the production this time.

I wish there is a way to select safe mode even if the screen did not pop up.

That should only happen if the staging site was copied to production.

I wish there is a way to select safe mode even if the screen did not pop up.

There isn’t a way to manually trigger safe mode, it can only be activated automatically if the site is detected as a duplicate.
