When I first got jetpack some years ago my blog was already old and had subscribers. You didn’t allow my earlier subscriber list to be imported. So I had both jetpack and my previous plugin set to send posts to subscribers. They both functioned fine for some years, but recently I updated to the latest wordpress and the latest of this plugin, now called Icegram, and when my last post went out the Icegram list didn’t go out. I’d import their csv to jetpack but you only allow 100 without paying. Is there a reason that both these subscription-things can’t function at the same time now? My website is has had jetpack the past 5 years or so. Yes I am talking with Icegram but they have so far found no problem.

    Hey @lauritaa,

Is there a reason that both these subscription-things can’t function at the same time now?

Are you having an issue in sending newsletters via Jetpack Newsletter? I mean, after publishing the post, does it not land in the subscriber’s inbox? Also, does it start working if you disable Icegram?

We are not familiar with Icegram but if there is something issue coming in Jetpack Newsletter feature, we will try our best to resolve the issue.

The two apps worked together until I updated everything on my website in August – the latest wordpress and plugins. Then when I posted on the blog on 30 August jetpack sent out the post but icegram didn’t. Icegram are testing and so far see nothing wrong, so I’m asking if Jetpack might be blocking or interfering in some way – if the two can’t now work at the same time.

Hey @lauritaa – we have no known issue/conflict with Icegram.

But if you want to troubleshoot this, you may temporarily deactivate Jetpack from the site and check if, after deactivating Jetpack, Icegram works or not.

Icegram’s test-mailings are all working now while Jetpack is still active. I’d have to publish a post with Jetpack off, meaning those subscribers don’t receive the post, if I did what you say. Which kind of defeats the purpose.

Hi @lauritaa – It’s good news that Icegram’s test mailings are working now.

To check if the Jetpack newsletter feature is also working, could you please publish a post? Also, I have subscribed to your site using our testing email address. After publishing the post, let us know here so that we can check if we received the email or not.

I guess I haven’t explained well enough. My blog has existed since 2008 – it’s the downloaded wordpress and has been put together by knowledgeable tech people. One of them installed jetpack in about 2018, when I already had a subscription list, but Jetpack didn’t allow importing it. So I kept on the subscription plugin, which is now called Icegram, and installed the jetpack one at the same time. For years they both published all posts. I then didn’t do much with the site for lockdown years, so when I renewed interest this summer I updated to the latest wordpress and updated the plugins. Right after that, a post I published went out via jetpack but not via Icegram, the new name of that subscription plugin. Icegram are doing tests to a test-list and not finding any reason for the 30 August post not having gone out. I therefore wondered if jetpack was interfering. The blog is a serious one which I’m not going to publish test-posts on and annoy the audience.

It’s not that Icegram is working ‘now’ – it’s working during tests and it worked for many years until all the updates.

Hey @lauritaa – thanks for providing all the details. Now I can understand the main issue. Also, I want to let you know that currently we don’t have any known conflict/issue with Icegram so Jetpack shouldn’t interfere here.

Ok can you confirm you specifically know that jetpack’s sending out posts and icegram’s sending out posts can happen at the same time? Other users are able to do that?

Hey @lauritaa – I did a quick test and can confirm Jetpack’s sending out posts and Icegram’s sending out posts can happen at the same time without any issue.

    (@lauritaa)

Ah! I have no idea how you managed that but thank you. I’ll let Icegram know. They haven’t found the reason why my 30 August post wasn’t sent out by them, whereas it was sent out by you.

Hi @lauritaa – I installed Jetpack and Icegram both on a testing site and published a post to check if it goes through both simultaneously. It might be possible there is some issue with the Icegram setup; you may check with them. Feel free to reach out to us if you need further help with any Jetpack-related issue. ??

    Hello Animesh

Thank you. Yes I’ve been working with Icegram for many days now but I do have a further question for you.

Icegram have said to my question about why someone not on their subscription list got a test-mail:

    Q) Why did Sue receive your recent test when you didn’t intend it?

Ans) Icegram Express notification was only sent to the Test list users from our side. But since the Jetpack plugin is also configured to send notifications, it triggered notifications when we published a test post. I assume.

    Q) And who else received that test?

Ans) We tried to check the list of recipients, but it looks like currently the site isn’t connected with jetpack.com.

The person who received their test-mail sent it to me; it’s a duplicate of what Icegram sent out (their logos etc). It’s not possible Jetpack sent this out is it?

Icegram say I’m not ‘connected to Jetpack’ and I arrived at this forum because I tweeted my problem to Jetpack and they, too, said my site ‘isn’t connected’. Obviously it is. What are they not finding and how can I correct it?

I’ve just looked at Jetpack on my site. The message is Site is connected. But when I click Manage I get this:

Manage your Jetpack connection. At least one user must be connected for your Jetpack products to work properly. Transfer ownership to another admin Disconnect Jetpack

    So something is not right?

Hi @lauritaa – here are answers to your questions:

Icegram Express notification was only sent to the?Test?list users from our side. But since the Jetpack plugin is also configured to send notifications, it triggered notifications when we published a test post. I assume.

Jetpack triggers new email notifications to the users only when you publish a post. But if you are testing with any different newsletter service, we recommend disabling the Jetpack Newsletter from the Jetpack → Settings → Newsletter section.

We tried to check the list of recipients, but it looks like currently the site isn’t connected with jetpack.com.

Yes, the Jetpack connection for the site is currently not good and the error we see on our side is test rest api proxy

This kind of problem you have is usually caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

You can read more about this here:?https://jetpack.com/support/troubleshooting-plugin-and-theme-conflicts/#troubleshooting-manually

The person who received their test-mail sent it to me; it’s a duplicate of what Icegram sent out (their logos etc). It’s not possible Jetpack sent this out is it?

If the newsletter is sent by Jetpack, it will always look like this: https://i.imgur.com/sLN4SBJ.jpg – this is the email format common for all and currently we don’t allow changing this.

This is a bit over my head. I have a tech friend I’ve given admin rights to the website but he says separate password is needed for jetpack, he can’t get in to do this routine. How do I find that out?

    Thread Starter lauritaa

    (@lauritaa)

And your screenshot of a Jetpack post omits the logo at the top so Icegram’s look the same. Here’s a picture of the post-alert received by a jetpack subscriber when icegram did a test. https://snipboard.io/UL64l1.jpg
