    When I first got jetpack some years ago my blog was already old and had subscribers. You didn’t allow my earlier subscriber list to be imported. So I had both jetpack and my previous plugin set to send posts to subscribers. They both functioned fine for some years, but recently I updated to the latest wordpress and the latest of this plugin, now called Icegram, and when my last post went out the Icegram list didn’t go out. I’d import their csv to jetpack but you only allow 100 without paying. Is there a reason that both these subscription-things can’t function at the same time now? My website is has had jetpack the past 5 years or so. Yes I am talking with Icegram but they have so far found no problem.

    This is a bit over my head. I have a tech friend I’ve given admin rights to the website but he says separate password is needed for jetpack, he can’t get in to do this routine.

    I think he needs your WordPress.com account login credentials, which are different from WP Admin credentials. With WordPress.com account login credentials, he can check all the Jetpack feature on WordPress.com account.

    Yes this email is from Jetpack Newsletter. You can notice our email there. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/QYrwrzI.jpg. That is the email address we send the newsletter to site subscribers.

    My tech friend is stumped: this is what he wrote me and I don’t understand:

    ‘I do not know why your user account is still not connecting.

    Jetpack appears to be connected correctly, and therefore should be sending out new posrs without any issues.

    The debug communication error in the email below does not look right.

    XML-RPC is turned on and working correctly. There is a test listed at number 5 in the following link:

    Jetpack is currently connected with your site but not with your WordPress.com account. Jetpack will work even without connecting it with a WordPress.com account but only with limited features.

    Just want to confirm that to help Jetpack connect to your WordPress.com account, have you or your friend tried the steps I mentioned here?

    Yes, he’s a former IT manager. If this problem means a whole revamp of my site and theme, I don’t have the money for it now. What I want to know is am I safe to blog and will subscribers receive posts? from both plugins, for the moment as I can’t afford to upgrade Jetpack.

    I’m now reading https://jetpack.com/support/why-the-wordpress-com-connection-is-important-for-jetpack/ and was thinking I can do without but then saw Post by Email – that that requires the wp com connection. Is that correct? I’ve been using this for years.

    ?? Yes, “Post by Email” and “Subscriptions” (sends posts to subscribers via email newsletter) feature both require (both are different features) a working connection to WordPress.com.

    You don’t need to upgrade to resolve the connection issue or send newsletters to subscribers, but if the connection is not good, it may create issues in sending the newsletter for Jetpack.
