Jetpack Subscription form

The Jetpack Subscription plug-in does not seem to accept email addresses with periods in them (i.e. [email protected]). I have a reader who is trying to subscribe, but they never receive the email notification so they can confirm.

Can this be looked at to see if, indeed, that is the reason for this person not receiving an email response.
