My site is https://alloccasionsrochester.com/ after attempting to update Jetpack, the error below returned.

Warning: require_once(/home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 31

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 31
I figured I could just rename the Jetpack folder in FTP to Jetpack.old but that didn’t allow me back into the dashboard. Then I tried to just disable all plugins by renaming the plugins folder to plugins.hold (like the FAQ says to when troubleshooting) and it still had the same Jetpack.php error.

I un-installed Jetpack. Got the same warning:

Warning: require_once(/home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/pattieb2/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack.php on line 31

I re-installed Jetpack. Got the same warning.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you try to log in to your site via FTP or CPanel, and delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder, and reinstall the plugin manually as explained here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

You’ll find the Jetpack plugin folder here:

    wp-content
       plugins
         jetpack - DELETE THIS FOLDER

If you’re not sure how to do this, you can ask your hosting company for help. They should also have documentation explaining how to edit or remove files from your site using FTP or a File Manager in your admin panel.

Let me know how it goes.

I did that. Deleting and re-installing. I did it twice and then it worked. This is fixed.

So I log onto wordpress.com to manage my sites for the first time ever.
Jetpack needs updating, cool ok lets do the first one remotely.

Update error and website completely breaks, same problem as above.

You think I’ll be doing that again?

To fix I simply deleted the jetpack folder and uploaded that folder from a previous backup.
Login to wp-admin as normal and jetpack updates fine……

@cambo: Glad to hear you got the issue resolved! Next time, could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

    Thank you!

Sorry about that Ryan. I didn’t feel the need to create a new thread for almost the same problem that was a week old. I just wanted to complain..

However, next time I will ??
