    Hello everyone!

I’m experiencing an issue with Jetpack’s “Like” buttons on my website. When viewing a post, the “Like” buttons remain stuck loading indefinitely, while the sharing buttons work fine.

Here are the details of my setup:

    • I’m using the latest version of WordPress.
    • I have the latest version of Jetpack installed.

    Steps to reproduce the issue:

    1. Visit any post on my website.
    2. At the end of the post, the “Like” buttons appear but remain stuck loading without displaying any action.
    3. On the other hand, the sharing buttons work correctly and allow users to share the post on various social networks.

No specific error message is displayed, only the message “Loading…” is shown on the “Like” buttons.

I have reviewed the Jetpack Social settings and haven’t found any option related to this specific issue. Has anyone experienced this problem before or have any ideas on how to fix it?

I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions you can provide to resolve this issue with Jetpack’s “Like” buttons.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi there!

A perpetual “Loading” message where the Like button should be indicates that there may be a Javascript error. These errors are usually caused by a bad plugin that has erroneous code, or the loading of an old or duplicate jQuery.js file. Deactivation of the bad plugin or removal of the duplicate jQuery.js file should fix the problem.

If you use a caching plugin, this can sometimes also cause issues.

As a start, I’d suggest deactivating all plugins besides Jetpack and see if the issue persists. If the issue is resolved, you can reactivate your plugins one by one and check to see which one is causing the problem.

If you don’t want to do this testing on your live site, you can use the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin to disable plugins for testing without impacting your live site. We have some instructions here:

    Hello @fotov60

It’s been one week since this topic was last updated. I’m going to mark this thread as solved. If you have any further questions or need more help, you’re welcome to open another thread. Cheers!

I followed the steps and installed the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin, but when I’m on the screen with all the plugins deactivated and I try to activate Jetpack as the first plugin, I get the following error: “Activating the plugin Jetpack failed. The change has been automatically reverted. Activate anyway.”

What should I do then? Should I activate it anyway, or is there a problem with the Jetpack plugin?

Hi @fotov60 , I saw your other thread. Could you check if LiteSpeed Cache has an option to minify JavaScript? The minification could cause the Likes button to say “Loading…” indefinitely. Please try to deactivate the minification to solve the issue.

I have tried disabling JS minification, JS concatenation, both external and inline JS concatenation, as well as the same options for CSS, but it is still stuck loading. What else can I try?

Hi @fotov60 – going back to this:

I followed the steps and installed the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin, but when I’m on the screen with all the plugins deactivated and I try to activate Jetpack as the first plugin, I get the following error: “Activating the plugin Jetpack failed. The change has been automatically reverted. Activate anyway.”

What should I do then? Should I activate it anyway, or is there a problem with the Jetpack plugin?

Can you try and activate Jetpack anyway at this stage and see what happens?

In the end, I have chosen to deactivate the Jetpack Like module, and the infinite loading issue has been resolved.
