Jetpack’s Social Share not working
-
Hi.
I use Jetpack’s social sharing feature. But it doesn’t work properly. Sometimes it doesn’t load the image properly and sometimes there is no image at all.
This has started to happen very frequently, which makes my social media page look made.
Can anyone help, how can I solve this issue? or has anyone faced a similar issue?
For reference, I have attached the images below in drive folder:

Hi @talha112233
Could you please post your site URL here so that we can have a look?
If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.
Thanks!
Hey @talha112233
I see that your site is behind Cloudflare (a CDN and DDoS protection service), which may be contributing to this issue.
Could you please try pausing Cloudflare as described [here], please?
The steps [here] will help to ensure that your site is optimized to work well with Cloudflare.
After you’ve made the changes, try again to see if the issue persists.
I have applied the changes mentioned in the links.
Let me see if it works or not.
I will get back to you in a day.
Thank you.
Hi there.
Unfortunately, the problem is still there.
I am planning to turn off Jetpack’s social media feature and try other plugins that provide auto social sharing.
In the meantime, if you have any solutions, pls let me know.
Thank you.
Hello @talha112233,
I checked your latest shared post and it seems like Publicized managed to share the posts with the correct thumbnail and caption – if that’s not correct, can you please share the post URLs and the related posts published in your social media accounts, so we can investigate further for you?
We’re confident we can find a solution for this hiccup, but to do that we might need the Jetpack feature to be active on your site. If you can hold on a little while from using another plugin, we’ll be happy to help ??
Hello @erania-pinnera
Here are two posts that weren’t posted correctly (The Image didn’t sync up)

The posts have no links of their own but you can see the attached image.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-rc1xRkltd-omwPTL88pnxJNhWuu5jd0/view?usp=sharingAlso, I have noticed a pattern. In both of these posts. The featured images were updated and then they were published. Is it required that we save draft every time we change the image and after saving we proceed to publish?
Thanks.
Well, for the latest post, I updated the image and saved the article before publishing. It still didn’t solve my problem. Guess, I don’t know what the issue is.
Please let me know when can you solve these issues as it’s affecting our business. Can you check yourself if the Cloudflare permissions are correctly set?
Thank you.
Hello @talha112233,
Thanks a lot for the screenshots and the links!
I did some tests, and I suspect that this issue with the images not being published on Facebook could be caused by a plugin conflict. Let me explain this better.
Your posts must have valid Open Graph meta tags for publicising to Facebook and Twitter. You can find more details about that on this page.
For Facebook, you can use Facebook’s Debug tool to see if your site has valid Open Graph tags. Jetpack will normally output those tags for you in your site’s source.
By checking the source page for the latest post you published,
view-source:https://retrology.net/all-eyeball-locations-in-masked-womans-somnium-ai-the-somnium-files-nirvana-initiative/
I can see that the WP All in One SEO OG tags have overwritten Jetpack’s.Since Facebook and Twitter will give an error if there are duplicate Open Graph tags, Jetpack automatically deactivates its Open Graph tag generation when it detects that another plugin is adding them.
Since I guess you’ll still want to use your SEO plugin but not their Open Graph output, you can use this plugin to force Jetpack to output its tags:
Always Use Open Graph with Jetpack – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/always-use-jetpack-open-graph/
Let’s see if we can fix that by doing this — perhaps that really has nothing to do with Cloudflare.
Please also notice that while Facebook depends on the Open Graph tags to choose which image it will display for any shared post, there is still a chance that Facebook will pick your header image instead of any images published in your post.
Jetpack will give several options to Facebook, including any Featured Image or Post thumbnail your post might have, as well as any other images found in your post. It is up to Facebook, however, to decide which image they will display.
Hope that’s all clear! Let me know how it goes and if the problem persists, we’ll keep digging.
We don’t use WP All in One SEO, however, I have got your point. Thanks for explaining in detail!
I have installed the Always Use Open Graph with Jetpack plugin that you have linked above.
Let’s see if it works or not.
I will update you in a day or two.

Let me know if you have any questions.
My best regards,

I installed the plugin suggested above, however, today still one post had an issue on Facebook. I don’t know what else to do…
Can you take another look and see what exact plugin is causing the conflict? or is there any other issue?
The following post was shared without image on Facebook.
https://retrology.net/20-minutes-till-dawn-save-file-location/Thanks.
Hi @talha112233 –
It looks you have Yoast SEO installed and active on your site. This is affecting the output of the Open Graph tags that are used to show images on Facebook.
On your site I am seeing:
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" /> <meta property="og:type" content="article" /> <meta property="og:title" content="20 Minutes Till Dawn Save File Location | Retrology" /> <meta property="og:description" content="20 Minutes Till Dawn save file locations can be found with this guide. You can also check out system requirements." /> <meta property="og:url" content="https://retrology.net/20-minutes-till-dawn-save-file-location/" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Retrology" /> <meta property="article:publisher" content="https://www.facebook.com/retrologynews/" /> <meta property="article:published_time" content="2022-07-05T16:40:19+00:00" /> <meta property="article:modified_time" content="2022-07-05T16:40:24+00:00" /> <meta property="og:image" content="https://retrology.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/20-minutes-till-dawn.jpg" /> <meta property="og:image:width" content="619" /> <meta property="og:image:height" content="383" /> <meta property="og:image:type" content="image/jpeg" /> <meta name="author" content="Izna Anjum" /> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image" /> <meta name="twitter:creator" content="@RetrologyN" /> <meta name="twitter:site" content="@RetrologyN" /> <meta name="twitter:label1" content="Written by" /> <meta name="twitter:data1" content="Izna Anjum" /> <meta name="twitter:label2" content="Est. reading time" /> <meta name="twitter:data2" content="2 minutes" />
Alternatively, if Jetpack’s tags were being used, we’d see something more like:
<!-- Jetpack Open Graph Tags --> <meta property="og:type" content="article" /> <meta property="og:title" content="This is a test of threads" /> <meta property="og:url" content="https://jetpack.com/2022/06/07/this-is-a-test-of-threads/" /> <meta property="og:description" content="Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. In gravida, turpis sed volutpat vestibulum, lorem neque commodo quam, a efficitur lectus est et eros. Nulla faucibus placerat diam auctor so…" /> <meta property="article:published_time" content="2022-06-07T16:30:35+00:00" /> <meta property="article:modified_time" content="2022-06-07T16:30:35+00:00" /> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Test Site" /> <meta property="og:image" content="https://jetpack.com/twitter_image_link.jpg" /> <meta property="og:image:width" content="512" /> <meta property="og:image:height" content="512" /> <meta property="og:image:alt" content="" /> <meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" /> <meta name="twitter:creator" content="@twitterhandle" /> <meta name="twitter:text:title" content="This is a test of threads" /> <meta name="twitter:image" content="https://jetpack.com/twitter_image_link.jpg"> <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary" /> <!-- End Jetpack Open Graph Tags -->
You will need to either stop using Yoast SEO or reach out to Yoast SEO for assistance with troubleshooting if you prefer to use their SEO solution.
I hope that helps.
