I have a website which contains Job Manager. I am going to add an Applications add-on to this so that candidates can upload a CV and their details.

Once on the website/back office database I would like the facility to search for candidates by their details. I have been told: “You would need to install a search plugin that would allow you to do this, and you’d need to make sure that it could be configured to search Custom Post Types (CPTs) – the Applications that your candidates will submit are a specific type of CPT.”

I have no programming expertise (hence why I love WordPress) would the Custom Post Type UI plugin give me this facility and is it easy for a novice to set up?

    Hello,

Just for my own clarification sake, is the custom post type itself already going to be set up by the Job Manager or Applications plugin? If yes, then our plugin isn’t going to meet your needs, since it doesn’t handle extending search at all. What our plugin focuses on is getting post types and taxonomies registered, based on chosen parameters.

Perhaps https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/search-everything/ would be a good candidate to cover the search functionality that they are talking about, as an attempt to answer the bigger question from above.
