Job Manager–>"Edit Job" not saving input data selected for multiple check boxes

Hello,
Under admin “Job Form Settings” I created a couple of custom data fields which are a list of check boxes. If in the “Job Manager: Edit Job” an admin selects more than one check box, the data is stored in the database, but when an admin edits the job again none of the check boxes are ticked (it resets to blank). It only works (saves the selection) when one check box is ticked.
There were a few topics that addressed this issue, but not clearly answered, and one that kind of has a solution is 4 years old and I don’t think applies anymore (as the code referred to in the answer is different now).
