Join Email List Form in Sidebar?

  • I’m looking for a way to add a simple “Sign Up for the Email Newsletter” form to my sidebar, where visitors enter their email address, which is then sent to me. This site has an example of what I’m looking for over on the left-hand side:

    (…although now that I actually enter an address in that form, I notice that the functionality is not quite what I’m after. I’d like the user to enter their email address, hit “Go”, or “Send”, and get a small graphic indication that their email has gone through.)

    Anyway, I’ve spent several days looking for a solution to this and have struck out so far. Anyone have any ideas? thanks!

    I am looking for the same thing i think. i would like to have an email sign-up on my site that visitors can sign-up for the occasional newsletter. my site is more of a static cms site, so i do not need daily emails sent out or an update with every new post. i want to control what is sent to the subscribers. i have been searching for help with this also and can find nothing.

    anyone? suggestions? help, please?

    hey rudolf45 – thanks for the reply.

    phplist is waaayy too complicated for my purposes, though.

    All I want is a simple email submission form – with only one field, and a “Submit” button, so I can collect site visitors’ addresses for my mailing list.

    I have a very small list, and don’t need to do anything tricky.

    Is this a really tough question or something? It’s been a week since I originally posted, and I’m kinda surprised that there’ve been so few responses.

    WP doesn’t have mailing list feature. So, don’t expect answers – WP just doesn’t do that.

    I am looking for the same thing. I don’t want wp to handle the mailing list I want it to go to an outside mailing mananger like ISO responder or awerber. You can easily setup a page for this on a normal website why not a blog.

    This is becoming very frustrating I know it can be done on blogger why not wordpress. My sites are only new so there shouldn’t be much problem moving them to blogger.

    I don’t want wp to handle the mailing list either. In fact, I don’t want to deal with a mailing manager at all.

    I know exactly what you are after and I have found the answer. I use ISO responder for my mailing list manager and you could use any number of the free uses out there.

    I have been able to insticate this on my website and would you beleive it was a simple 2min job.

    All you need to do is if you have a mailing list manager then you will be able to get the code for you list. Copy this code into your sidebar.php where you want to place it and that’s it.

    I could only get it to work in my left sidebar and not in the right as I have widgets in that one.

    I see you got your ISOReg form under the Free reposrt on teh left. Yeah!

    I’m looking for a way to get an Aweber webform on my blog. Where do you get this sidebar.php you speak of.

    I got the side bar widgets, which start you should be able to place any html or javascript . It kinda looked like bloggers page elements at first. But I do not see how to edit them. I was gonna try the text widget.

    Page Elements on the New Blogger have an html/Javacript type that I have successfully used for Web forms from Aweber.

    Any ideas here people?

    This is an old post, but the simple answer was never given. Just use a Text widget and put any text/coding within that widget.

    OK, I can see how to add the text widget on the right side bar but where do I add the info for the sign up form?

    Please be specific — or point me to a step by step answer.

    An easy way: Go to feedburner, set up an account, activate email subscription service, and paste the code they give you into the widget. They’ll handle the hard part.

    I already have code, I simply need to know how to add text to the text widget? I put the text widget in the sidebar but from there what?

    click on the little icon to off to the right side of the text widget in the widgets admin screen.

    I did that and it doesn’t do a thing???? I clicked, double clicked — nada, nothing, zilch.

    Now to make sure we are on the same page, I am clicking on the Text 1 icon on Presentation, Widgets page. Or is there somewhere else?
