Joomla to WordPress

Hi,

I’m reworking my company’s website at ex: www.webaddress.com. It was originally built on Joomla and that’s what is still active at the moment, however I’ve been working on its replacement in WordPress (not importing, just building new from scratch), and right now it is www.webaddress.com/wp.

My question is when it comes time for me to make the address swap officially, so that the WordPress site is https://www.webaddress.com, do I just go into the general settings side of WordPress and cut off the /wp from the WordPress address (url), and site address (url)?

Would there be any conflicts with the old Joomla site still sitting in the background at the same address?
