    Hello,

When i Google on some keywords i used in my posts + when i enter my website’s name after it, JPG’s start to pop-up in the search results instead of the post itself. In the (blue) title i see all the keywords i used for that particular image. These are JPG’s out of those specific post. I think is not a good thing my JPG’s starting to come up in Google first, instead of the post it self.

My URL is: https://www.stijnspreekt.nl. Search term used: suriname slm stijnspreekt.

    Please help me out.

    Thanks in advance!

Media items are stored in the database as posts, this means they’re accessible under their own URLs. The pages are called attachment pages. To exclude them from being indexed and used in search results, please do the following:

    1. Set the media attachment pages to noindex (See How Do I Noindex URLs? guide)
    2. Wait for Google to recrawl your sitemap and remove the attachment pages from the index.
    3. Remove the Media (attachment) sitemap (See How to Customize the Sitemap Index guide)

Note: This does not prevent indexing of actual images, just the attachment pages.

Thank you. Can you please be a little bit more specific. Im new to this.

    – How do i detect/find the attachment pages in the Yoast plugin? I mean, where do i Noindex them? I cant make it out of the link you gave me.

    – Where and how do i remove the attachment pages from the index? Google Search Console?

    – You mean to exclude the “Media (attachment)” sitemap under Post Types in the plugin, right?

    Thanks for your time.

    – I think i found it. Do i need to nofollow the attachment pages all by hand, individually? Or is there a faster way to do this?

    – Can i speed up the crawl process by re-adding the sitemap?

    – Where do i remove the pages from the index? Which index?

Btw, is this (permalink) redirect in the Yoast plugin also working?

“What happens is that the plugin sets up a 301 redirect from the attachment page which in turn tells the Google index that the page has been moved and to update the index to point at the parent page thereby removing all the unwanted image attachment pages from your index”.

Is there somebody here to answer my questions? ??

    Hi,

We’re working on cleaning up these Yoast SEO support forums. Since your thread hasn’t had any activity in a very long time, we’ve marked it as resolved.

Of course, you’re always welcome to open a new topic. We kindly ask you to read this post before doing so.

    Thanks for understanding!
