    Update: I updated my review from 1 star to 4 since I was able to find a better order of settings in combination with my stackpath CDN that allowed me to reduce the page speed and increase both my yslow and page speed scores.

    To me it still needs a little work since 4.5 was the lowest I got with a page size of only 1.43MB. I think at this size I should be able to hit the 3 second mark but I am not.

    Original Review:

    Not getting the results I am looking for. It helps a bit but not what I expected. The Async plugin is where I am having the biggest trouble. That one is worse, jquery isn’t getting deferred.

    I guess this is where I leave a review for both the autoptimize and async/defer autoptimize plugin. So I will add the second plugin review below.

    I am trying to make this plugin work but I have to say that I am not happy with it.

    jQuery file isn’t getting deferred no matter what I do, I might as well manually do it and get rid of this plugin.

    I was stoked when I first installed it thinking it would help but it’s done nothing to defer my jquery file. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but when I test it in GTMetrix, it still shows. I give it 1 star because it’s already wasted a lot of time and time is precious.

    If someone has a list of setting recommendations that are optimal to test, please feel free to help and make suggestions but with the settings I have tried, it is not doing the job. And I have tried a lot of different variations.

    Evening rskangel; some misc. feedback;
    * it’s always better to work one plugin at a time.
    * jQuery sometimes simply cannot be deferred/ asynced because themes/ plugins expect jQuery early, so things would break
    * both AO (and AsyncJS to a lesser extend) do a lot more.
    * in Autoptimize you can try removing jQuery (js/jquery/jquery.js) from the comma-separated JS optimization list to optimize jQuery along with your other local resources, if however jQuery is loaded from another server, this won’t work (as AO can not aggregate/ minify external resources).
    * if jQuery indeed is externally hosted, you could try adding it to the comma-separated “Async” list on Autoptimize’s “extra” tab.
    * When using AO already, Async JS is mainly helpful to async/ defer 3rd party hosted resources (as the rest is mostly optimized already)
    * if you want further assistance; sharing a URL would help ??

    have a nice evening,
