    Hey There!

Firstly, I love this little plugin. It was exactly what I needed for my audio files on my website (which is still heavily under construction, and I’m sure someone more versed in behind the scenes coding than I am might agree it’s a bit of a mess right now).

I got the audio plugin to work properly. My playlist was 11 music files long and operated properly in every way. Everything published no problem and all the audio played well as well.

About twenty minutes later, I checked my page marked “recordings” again (where I placed the shortcode for the audio player). Now the audio player only displays the first song in the playlist, and nothing beyond that.

I didn’t add any plugins in that 20 minute time period. I tried activating and deactivating a number of plugins, including W3 Total cache, and no luck or changes since. I also activated and deactivated the Jetpack Sharing and Publicize plugins numerous times as well (since I kept receiving an alert saying the Audio Player is currently experiencing and conflict with those two).

I’m not sure what the problem could be. As I said, I’m particularly confused because it worked fine to start.

Any help in this regard would be lovely! Thanks,

    Brad

Just a quick update. Now the player has stopped appearing altogether. Normally it would appear on this page:

    https://www.brad-baron.com/media/recordings/

I also did a debug true test and got the following error page:

“Notice: wp_register_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /home3/bradbaro/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2959

Notice: Use of undefined constant E_DEPRECATED – assumed ‘E_DEPRECATED’ in /home3/bradbaro/public_html/wp-content/plugins/youtube-channel/youtube-channel.php on line 10 “

I don’t know if this means anything with regards to getting this audio player to work. I also don’t really know what that all means in general!

But one last note: The audio player seemed to be malfunctioning on me hours before I ever got this error message.

Thanks in advance for your help and have a good night,

    Brad

Hi Brad, hope I can help…

I checked your code and there’s quite a lot happening there that’s not quite ‘clean’… I think the culprit for the malfunctions is hardcoded jQuery… see FAQs for more info on this…

To troubleshoot further, I think the best thing to do would be to deactivate all your other plugins and revert to the default twentyeleven theme. Reactivate these items one at a time, testing in between…. when the problem re-occurs, you’ve found your error.

Note also in your case I think there is likely more than 1 problem plugin and also problems with the theme code… so you might have quite a bit of work to do in identifying and fixing all these issues.

Sorry for the bad news… and good luck!

    Oi.

I’ll see what i can do, but thank you in advance.

but on that note, could you clarify what you mean by “hardcoded jQuery?”

please assume I know nothing, haha

    Hey Maeve,

I did as you said and deactivated every plugin other than the Audio Player. I also tried changing the theme to twentyeleven, as well as twentytwelve.

In any event, the player appears but still only shows only the first song in the playlist, and not the rest.

As I said, it’s especially frustrating since it worked so well to start.

If you want to take a look at my site code at this time, the only plugins I have activated at the moment are your audio plugin and jQuery UI widgets.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    Hey Maeve,

    Been looking into this more.

It would seem that any plugin that is geared towards creating a gallery on the WordPress site causes your audio player to disappear. The conflict with Justified Image Grid was already known to us, but I also just tried activating the simpler “Gallery” plugin in conjunction with your plugin. Once I did, your player disappeared. As soon as I deactivated “Gallery” again, your player reappeared.

Still have yet to figure out why the player only displays the first song selection though.

Hi Brad – ok cool, sounds like you’ve managed to isolate the conflict to one or more plugins. Please can you make a list of them here so I can check it out and see what can be done in my plugin to fix this?

Now, re the first song only issue…. can you check your playlist title, playlist description, and especially the song title fields and make sure they do not contain any funny characters/symbols? This would be things like _ ” & % $ # etc….

    Hey Maeve,

    Thanks and no problem.

Here’s the link to “Justified Image Grid:” https://codecanyon.net/item/justified-image-grid-premium-wordpress-gallery/2594251

Here’s the link to “Gallery:” https://bestwebsoft.com/plugin/gallery-plugin/

And here’s a link to “The Events Calendar,” which seems to have conflicted with this and other plugins as well: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/

Just letting you know I also tried the “funny characters” trick, but also to no avail. Currently on my site, I have a shortcode linked to a playlist I made with your plugin called “Test Playlist,” which is completely absent of such symbols and characters.

    Thanks again,

    Brad

Thanks Brad… looking into it. I suspect its a conflict with several jQuery calls common to gallery plugins… this is something I’ve already fixed up for the next release 2.2
