jquery slider won't work on static homepage

I have an html page that works great and tried to integrate it into wordpress as a static homepage. I have it set up (I’m working locally using MAMP) but the jquery slider doesn’t work. I’ve scoured the web and read all kinds of problems with javascript and wordpress and tried a multitude of things to get it to work. Can someone shed some light on how to get javascript running on my static homepage? Here is my code:

Is there some other code I need to enter on this page or another? Please help if you can. I’m going crazy!
