jQuery UI tabs not working with layerwp theme

I used this tutorial that implements jQuery UI tabs & it works great with the (twentytwelve) theme:

I used the same code with a layerswp (child) theme & it doesn’t work.

Question: How would I use & implement jQuery UI tabs with layerwp theme?
