JS error after upgrading to 4.9.0.1

  • Hello Alin, after upgrading to that version, the graph in the dashboard started showing this error message:

    Yet the browser console is not showing any js error.

    This only happens in the Dashboard screen. If I want to see the graphs for individual posts in the Post screen, the graphs are ok.

    I can confirm this happens on a WP install using PHP 5.5 and SSL in the backend. I have several websites with different environments and this is how it goes:

    On PHP 5.6 without SSL: everything works ok.
    On PHP 5.5 WITH SSL: fail!
    On PHP 5.5 without SSL: everything works ok.
    On PHP 5.4 without SSL: everything works ok.
    On PHP 5.3 without SSL: everything works ok.

    So, this is something with PHP 5.5 or something triggering when your site does use SSL.

    Besides that, the code in the frontend is being added correctly, always.

    Any ideas? fix please?

    I have it on PHP 5.3 + SSL and PHP 5.6 + SSL and is running fine. I wonder if you’re running SSL on frontend too, for that site.

    Let’s start by clearing the cache from General Settings screen and clearing your browser cache.

    Yes, I’ve deleted the plugin cache AND the browser cache several times. Tried on incognito mode and even with different browsers.

    The error message is suggesting that some data is incorrect:
    “You called the draw() method with the wrong type of data rather than a DataTable or DataView×”

    What may be the cause for this?

    Please update to the latest version and check if the error occurs on other reports like the Location report.

    Hello Alin, the same error came back after upgrading to 4.9.1.1.
    The 4.9.1 worked with no warnings.

    Now with 4.9.1.1 the warning is back:
    “You called the draw() method with the wrong type of data rather than a DataTable or DataView×”

    Maybe some bug was reintroduced?

    Unfortunately it seems to be a a plugin conflict, with other plugins using charts. I’m working on it. If you could test the latest development version I would really appreciate it: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/google-analytics-dashboard-for-wp.zip.

    If you decide to test it let me know if it works for you.

    Hello, the bug is present even after upgrade to 4.9.1.2.
    Should I anyway try your dev version?

    After having more feedback regarding the same issue it seems to be a plugin conflict after all.

    Try to identify the plugin/theme in question, see steps 1-4 here:

    Most probably it’s a plugin that uses Google Charts to display stats/reports.

    Once identified we can go further and see how we can fix it or avoid the conflict.
