This is not a valid JSON error message has been displaying via site kit recently. I’ve noticed it off and on for the last few days. I haven’t made any changes to any settings or plugins. I am using Wordfence free version, however. I’m also using Jetpack free as well.

Thanks for reaching out, hopefully we can assist. Please share the following information and we can investigate this further:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred. If you already submitted the form after opening a support topic let me know, there is a record referencing this support topic, although the site referenced seems to be down.
    2. At what stage do you encounter this message? (ie. When clicking on the Analytics dashboard)

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

I submitted the form a few days back. I saw the issue across many tabs of the site kit. Currently, I’m having a website Issue so I’m not able to see which areas I see the Not a valid JSON response being displayed. I’ll have to wait to update you on where I see the message.

When I would see the message it was on my websites’ dashboard. I had the option displayed on the dashboard page. It would list all boxes as not a valid JSON response. I updated permalinks and it seemed to resolve the issue for a short time but the analytics and visitors sections would still show the error message.

Thanks for the update. I did check the site URL provided in your Site Health information although it’s not live at present. This sounds related to the website issue’s you’re encountering at present. Be sure to let me know once your site is live and we can perform some additional tests, the error message you encountered within Site Kit may be related.

I was able to access my dashboard again and reactivate the site kit. I see The response is not a valid JSON response. across all boxes in Google site kit.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately your site remains inaccessible from my side, with a quick check on downforeveryoneorjustme.com indicating the same.

While your site is inaccessible it’s normal that you may encounter errors. Once your site is live and without loading issues let me know and I’ll provide you with some troubleshooting steps.

I will. The site issue was occurring before the site kit issue so I was told it was a server-side issue from my hosting provider. I will contact you again if the issue still persists.
