Hi. Thanks for this great plugin. It really simplifies translation work for me.

The plugin was working fine for me on my child theme (loco translate gives ok to each of the file checks). However, today I can’t sync my POT file with the source files. I have been troubleshooting the issue: no php errors reported by my webserver, no response to the http request. The latest info I got was:

Error: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

    From WP_DEBUG

Could you please help me fix the problem?

Are you sure there is no response? If so, this is likely to be a fatal PHP error. With no error reporting enabled you won’t get any output. Check your log files for errors.

Any plugin could be causing an error during the Ajax request, so try disabling them one by one and see if it starts working.

    Hi Tim.
    Thanks for your reply.

I found that some of my template files had special characters messing up the synching process.

These characters were: ’, “ and ” (note these are not the same as ‘ and “) which were copied and pasted from some other files. After replacing them the plugin worked again.

So I guess this was a more general problem. Thanks for your help and this great plugin. Your FAQs also helped me a lot.
