Just a blank screen after last update
-
Hello,
After the last update (to 0.13.3) I get just a blank screen on the front end, no source code whatsoever.
I get the site back up if I deactivate the W3TC or rollback to v0.13.2.
How to fix it?
Thanks

Hello @pchenriques
I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you.
There is a possibility that some files got broken during the update. Try updating again and see if the issue persists. Also try deleting your /cache/ foplder.
Alternatively try completely removing W3 Total Cache and re install. Make sure to export the settings in Performance>General settings>Export/Import
1. Purge Cache
2. Deactivate and Delete Plugin
3. Check .htaccess File (make backup)
W3TC will create many directives in .htaccess file to control the caching behavior. Each section will start and end with comments like “#BEGIN W3TC Page Cache core” and “#END W3TC Page Cache core”.
Ensure that no residual entries are left over in your .htaccess file after deleting the plugin.
4. Delete wp-content files and folders
– cache folder
– w3tc-config folder
– object-cache.php (if exists)
– advanced-cache.php (if exists)
– dbcache.php (if exists)
– upgrade folder
– delete w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins/ (if exists)
5. Delete Cached Files from CDN (if using CDN)
Besides deleting all the relevant files, if you use CDN then ensure to purge the cached content from your CDN. This is necessary when you enabled minify option in W3TC settings. You should delete the minified and combined scripts and CSS files from your CDN server to avoid the site breaking on the browser.
6. Go to your wp dashboard and re-install W3 Total Cache
Thank you!Hello @pchenriques
Also, try disabling HTML minify and save the settings and purge the cache if the issue persists.
THanks!Hello @vmarko
I tried the method of your first post but it didn’t work out.
Then, I disable the HTML minification and it fixes the issue. Only now The HTML isn’t minified… It works with the previous version with these settings: https://monosnap.com/file/wIDNrFc572BlyFLeUdXnX3InveM7Ct.
Since I reinstalled it again, unless the newly downloaded files are again broken, it should another problem.
Any new suggestion to fix it? How can I help?
Thanks
Hello @pchenriques
Thank you for the information. Can you please re=enable HTML minify, and disable the Inline JS minification and Inline CSS minification one by one leaving and see if one of those options is causing this?
And please share if the issue persists when HTML minify is enabled and those two options are disabled.
Thank you!Hello @vmarko
The issue persists with HTML minification checked only (https://monosnap.com/file/PZUzQ9C8GyNPjUusvrr7rXE7o2dZ5b).
Thanks
Hello @pchenriques
Thank you for the information.
Can you please share your website URL so we can check this? And on which page the issue occurs?
Thanks!-

Hello @vmarko
Sure. It’s a staging site, usually password protected but I disabled it for you: https://www.encosta-da-camarinha.pt/staging01/
In the process of doing it, I found out the issue only happens if I’m logged in as administrator. Logging in as editor, the issue doesn’t happen.
Right now only HTML minification is enabled (https://monosnap.com/file/PZUzQ9C8GyNPjUusvrr7rXE7o2dZ5b) and as you are not logged in you don’t see the issue. Even when logged in as an administrator, no source code appears on the front end
If needed, I can send you credentials to log in.
Let me know how to proceed.
Thanks
Hello @pchenriques
Can you please disable minify for logged in users in Performance>minify>” Disable minify for logged in users”?
Just to confirm, the issue occurs only when you are logged as admin to your wp-dashboard and if you check your website n incognito mode everything works as expected?
Thank you!Hello @vmarko
If I enable the option to “Disable minify for logged in users” (which I had disabled) it works.
With the “Disable minify for logged in users” disabled, as I used to have, I can visit the site in incognito mode without issues but then I’m not logged in at first, am I? While in incognito mode, if I log in as an administrator and check the front end in the same browser session, the issue is present again.
So, it seems to be happening while I visit the front end and I’m logged in as an administrator in the same browser session, default or incognito mode. I use this Minify settings for testing: https://monosnap.com/file/PZUzQ9C8GyNPjUusvrr7rXE7o2dZ5b.
Does it help?
Thanks
Hello @pchenriques
Yes, thank you.
So just to confirm from all of this, when the option “Disable minify for logged in users” is enabled and you are logged in as admin, the issue is gone?
Thank you!Hello, @vmarko
Yes, correct.
Hello @pchenriques
You should keep the option “Disable minify for logged in users” is enabled in this case. The only thing that was changed related to Minify is HTML minify action for elements containing SVG strings.
It should not cause any issues but there may be a compatibility issue.
Be that as it may. if the issue is gone when the mentioned “Disable minify for logged in users” is enabled, just keep it that way.
Thank you!Hello @vmarko
Sorry for the late reply…
Yes, is indeed a conflict with Happy Addons for Elementor. Should I post the issue on Happy Addons for Elementor support?
Thanks
