• I haven’t used the theme enough to know what works well and what might not, however I’ve been “around the block” with various themes in all kinds of networks (ie Drupal, Joomla, Xoops, and MORE) and from what I’ve seen (so far) Suffusion Theme is about the most thought-out, well organized and intelligent theme I’ve seen. The options of user ‘control’ and modification from the front-end are superb, and I just wanted to give you a well earned “pat on the back”. I hope I’m as impressed after having used it a while as I am installing and setting it up. THANK YOU! –

While I’m commenting, if anyone is so inclined, I could use some help setting-up “faux_facebook” plugin. Can’t seem to get it to work – done it on other systems before with no hitch, but don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Thanks (in advance, if anyone cares to respond).

  • Thanks, Lee-vit-Over!
Regarding your question, when you say “done it on other systems” do you mean other CMS systems or other themes within WordPress?

Well, in regards to facebook-connect, other CMS’s – not WordPress (yet). I’m not savvy on CSS, PHP, HTML systems – pretty much a ‘newbie’ (was a programmer YEARS ago). I was trying to use facebook-connect (faux-facebook?), but haven’t been able to get it done. – And I appreciate your response (and so fast) but honestly I didn’t expect (and don’t expect) you to help – that was NOT why I gave you the “pat on the back”. I think your Theme is AWESOME – obviously you put a lot of thought and hard work into it, as well as (obvious) a great deal of experience. WELL DONE! (First theme-artist I’ve seen to put that much thought about the user into the theme). GREAT JOB Sayontan!!!

As for the facebook-connect, like I mentioned – I couldn’t seem to get it done. Any guidance, or ‘knowledge’ you might offer would be greatly appreciated as well – but either way, my hat is still off to you! KEEP UP THE *AWESOME* WORK!

Maybe I spoke too soon? – Why is it that it seems VERY FEW plugins will work – is it the theme? – I keep getting errors pointing in that direction. Has this been a problem before (I haven’t searched through ALL of the comments, yet). It seems that if the plugin requires adding anything to the page/theme – it creates a ‘Fatal Error’.

Almost all the good / popular plugins work perfectly with the theme without tweaks. If you are adding some content to the files in the theme and you get a Fatal Error it could potentially mean you have some kind of a syntax error, or are calling a function that has not been defined.

As a personal preference I normally avoid plugins that ask you to edit the theme files for very simple things, because in a lot of cases it indicates a lack of research on the part of the plugin author. Typical examples would be plugins that ask you to edit header.php or footer.php to add things like social bookmarks, while the author could have accomplished the same task himself/herself by making use of appropriate actions hooks or filter hooks.

You are welcome to take a look at the forums and post messages there – I haven’t had any alarming behavior from any plugins yet, and in a lot of cases using an alternative better designed plugin works just as fine.
