Just Another Static Front Page Question!

    I would like to make a template, somefile.php, and use it as my main page, so that https://domain.com shows somefile.php.

    I would also like to have the recent posts page that is normally on the front, with some easy url, like https://domain.com/recent. I want to link to this page from my somefile.php.

    Note: A simple static Page setting is not going to do the trick, here – I need a custom template. Also, even if I do set a Page as the front, how do I then reclaim access to the original recent posts list?

  • You create two (2) Pages in Write > Write Page.
    Go to Options > Reading and select one of them as your frontpage the other as the posts Page.
    This part done.

    If you want special template, follow the Templates section on Pages and assign your new template to the “frontpage”.
