It’s been a long-standing issue that if you don’t export ALL data from a WordPress site, for example, posts only, than featured images are not brought along with them. I can understand this, as images are an attachment post type.
In any case, it’s still a headache, but this plugin solved it beautifully. Pulls in only the images that are featured images, nothing extra and no bloat. Awesome!
