Just Inherited A Website, Where Do I Start!

Hi, I have just inherited the website https://www.Spartans.com.au/ (although all they did was give me the login details to the account which is associated with).

I’m extremely new to the WordPress system and really need your help to get on my feet so I can run with our website going forward.

The problem is, it is still running WordPress 3.0.1 – the person who set it up (in 2010 I believe) is no longer at the club and has therefore left us on our own to deal with the website.

The guy who’s account I have is a longtime club member but isn’t behind the admin side of things (he only does the posts and once in a blue moon updates our pages).

How do I update the version of WordPress (all I have is my account details and the 3.0.1 control panel – never installed anything etc.) and start really fixing it up?
