My dashboard has been saying

29 Spam comments blocked by Akismet.

for, oh, about 5 years now. I haven’t enquired about it before as mine is not a high-traffic site and I get relatively little spam. However, it has been increasing in volume for a couple of months, and just this morning I got a spam email that showed the sender WAS ME, when of course, it wasn’t! I’m using the latest version of Akismet (Version 4.1.1) and Contact Form 7 (Version 5.1.1).

So why has Akismet’s message

29 Spam comments blocked by Akismet.

not changed in years, and why am I getting spam?? Under the settings I see

PAST SIX MONTHS 0
ALL TIME 29
ACCURACY 100%

all of which is nonsense.

I upgraded recently to Jetpack Premium…do I need a new API key or something?

Thanks for your replies; the issue is solely with the contact form and spam getting through. I did contact https://jetpack.com/contact-support/ before I posted here; the reply was it was best to contact CF7’s support, as there was nothing they (jetpack) could do about it other than suggesting some code and

CF7’s support may be more helpful here, because it looks like you’re using a more customized contact form. We don’t support that plugin ourselves, so we’ll be of rather limited help here, I’m afraid.

@shorelarkbythesea I do see the email you sent Akismet, but it does sound like a configuration problem with CF7. Let us know what their development team finds out in case it happens to others in the future. Will mark this as resolved for now.
