• I did a test migration of a small site. The UI is very nice and it’s fast. It includes a lot of yet-to-be-included promised features. But it doesn’t live up to its potential. The upcoming features sound great, but I had problems migrating a relatively simple site.

This site uses a plugin to display a list of upcoming events – it’s not a complex plugin. There were three events and none of them appeared in the final destination. The page on which they displayed with a shortcode also vanished. I think Backup Migrate Restore just didn’t know how to deal with it.

More troubling is that my two menus, built within the Astra theme also vanished. I had to recreate them (which is when I found one of the pages was missing.) It was at this point that I stopped struggling with it.

I turned to All-in-1 Migration and it did a flawless job. This plugin has potential, and I know several people have had goods results. But it’s just not ready.

I understand the need for the developers to fund their efforts and they overwhelm the user with places to purchase and lists of features that are on their way. But I hope they understand that it would be irresponsible for me to invest in Backup without first seeing it complete a successful migration.
