• Hello!

We have licensed WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional.
Why does the plugin need the pro version AND the standard version??
That’s two plugins installed for one service, I don’t understand.
    Thank you

    Hi @thomhsb ,

We completely understand your concerns, and we’re sorry if the plugin structure has raised any doubts about whether it’s the right fit for your setup. I’d love to reassure you that we’re fully committed to giving you the best experience with minimal impact on your store. Our free plugin is designed to include as many features as possible to help you run a successful invoicing system, but we know that more advanced users, like yourself, may need additional functionality.

That’s where the Professional extension comes in. While it’s a separate plugin, it builds on the free version to add more advanced features, working seamlessly together. In practice, it’s as if they were a single plugin, and we’ve worked hard to ensure this setup doesn’t affect your store’s performance in any way.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re always here and happy to help!

    Hi @alexmigf,

    Thank you for your reply.
I’ve changed my rating because despite my misunderstanding (the pro version could take the core of the standard version and add the extra options like a pro add-on), the plugin is very good.

If this is your way of doing things, it would have been simple and beneficial for us if both versions had the same basic name, so that they’d be one below the other in the list of plugins.

    In short, it’s a detail, I agree.
Thanks again and all the best!

    Hi @thomhsb

Thank you so much for your updated review and your kind words about the plugin! We’re really glad to hear that you find it useful.

I completely understand your suggestion regarding the naming of the plugins. In fact, the names are already quite similar: PDF Invoices & Packing Slips for WooCommerce and PDF Invoices & Packing Slips for WooCommerce – Professional. We aimed to keep them closely related to make it easier to identify that the Professional version builds on top of the free one.

That said, we really appreciate your feedback and will definitely take it into account for any future improvements. If you have any more thoughts or questions, feel free to reach out anytime. We’re always here to help!

Thanks again, and all the best to you as well!

Yes, I’m not saying otherwise, the names are similar. ??

However, the names displayed in the admin interface are not.
When I go to the list of plugins, I see them as follows:

PDF Invoices & Packing Slips for WooCommerce
    and
WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional

As a result, one is in the middle of the list and the other at the end.
    Understand?

When I told you about the names displayed, I was thinking more along the lines of :
PDF Invoices & Packing Slips for WooCommerce
PDF Invoices & Packing Slips for WooCommerce Professional
    ou
WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips
WooCommerce PDF Invoices & Packing Slips Professional

    In short, a detail!
But one that would allow us to see them together.

    Have a nice day

Well, in the meantime, I’ve changed the name in the css file ??

Which version of the Professional extension are you running?

    (@thomhsb)

    Version 2.2.11

It seems like you’re using a very old version of the plugin. The latest version is 2.15.11, which was just released today. That’s likely why you’re still seeing the legacy name. I recommend updating to the latest version to ensure you’re getting all the improvements and features.

I don’t understand why the plugin doesn’t offer me an update in this case.

Furthermore, following your questioning, I notice that the Pro version is notified “By Ewout Fernhout”; is this normal?

    Hi @alexmigf,

I don’t understand why the plugin doesn’t offer me an update in this case.

Please note that we bundled the updater in our plugins quite a time ago. Before that, you needed to install a companion plugin, WP Overnight Sidekick, that today is legacy (See?Activating your license). Therefore, since you have an installed version lower than 2.10.0 for the Professional extension, please update your plugin manually to be able to activate your plugin and start receiving update notifications: This process needs to be done only once! ??

Furthermore, following your questioning, I notice that the Pro version is notified “By Ewout Fernhout”; is this normal?

Good question! This is because Ewout was the founder of the company and also the original author of the plugin, but then he decided to use the company name instead of their own name (see).

    Okay, I understand.

I’m taking over the management of an old site; and I didn’t know that this license dated back to 2020, especially since I didn’t have any notification for an update.

When I logged in to the WP Overnight account, I did indeed notice.
I’ll be sure to correct it soon, thanks!
