I have been trying to figure out how to fix a sidebar non-responsiveness issue, and I got a bunch of input from people not in the WordPress community, but from Craigslist. I was editing the child CSS using the CSS Stylesheet editor, and was having some success at trying to keep the sidebar where it is, when viewed on smaller screen-devices (it was dropping to the bottom of the page, leaving a blank space, rather than doing a responsive rearrangement. I thought I should work on the Prose child’s CSS only(Appearance/Edit CSS), but then I pulled up Genesis/Custom Code, and saw all sorts of controls I thought might work. Problem is, I mistook Reset for Revert, and wound up with a blank screen.

    The site is equinoxpdx.com.

I need to get this thing back to a readable form, at least. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve

  • You may need to reinstall fresh copies of Genesis as well as Prose and make your changes using the custom codes box in Prose only. If this does not help you need to seek support from the theme’s vendor as we do not support commercial themes.

That’s an idea, but I have gotten more helpful responses in the past, regardless if my question involved “commercial themes”, or not. I am asking for help with the mechanics of WordPress CSS Editor, not about particular features of the themes.

What I really need is the custom code that I reset, or deleted, so that I can at least get the site back to a legible condition.

    Any other ideas, please?!

    Thanks,

Ask your hosting company if they have a backup of your stylesheets. IIRC, WordPress itself does not make backups of files you edit using the Appearance > Edit function.

    Hey Stephen,

You were a great help last time I had a major issue with screwing up the CSS code, and I was just going to read over what you recommended about using FTP. I have the Prose and Genesis CSS stylesheets on Pastebin, and they are still intact in WordPress, but by resetting the Custom Code, I also deleted the php. Should that be retrievable using that FTP approach again?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Removing whatever I removed totally removed all structure to the site, equinoxpdx.com.

Got most of the structure back by plugging 1600 lines of css code into the custom code window, and retrieving the php code from a previous thread. Almost back to square #1, not #-4…yay!!

ps – I am bummed the email notification for this board doesn’t work.
