Hello, Guys I just have moved my site from wp.com to wp.org. After doing all the work now that I realize that there are some serious issues to move forward as per my limited knowledge on this topic. So kindly update me if I am right or wrong. (I hope I am wrong)
    1. All existing likes accumulated on the posts on wp.com is lost forever and there is no way to get it back.
    2. There is no wp.com kind of subscription anymore, People can’t do that “Follow”. Any user has to signup with email only. So basically a wp.com user cant quickly follow.
    3. I have moved all my subscribers to wp.org but does that mean my subscribers going to see my posts on their feed? (because they all were my followers, not email subscribers)

Any feedback would help me greatly.
    Thanks

Did you change the URL of the site? Then, basically, no.

    2. Use Jetpack’s subscriptions module. You can transfer the followers.
    https://jetpack.com/support/subscriptions/

    3. The discovery feature of the wordpress.com reader works only with wordpress.com hosted sites. Your feed followers can manually add your site to their feed but cannot “discover” it.

    Thanks, Steve for the reply.
Regarding 1) I think I did not follow you. I am able to export my wp.com site and import into wp.org. All posts have come in, but the ‘likes’ gathered in the wp.com are not moved or copied over to wp.org. I don’t know which URL you are talking about. Post’s urls would be different right?

    2) Yes, I have already done that, it shows my subscribers in wp.org and reset the wp.com to zero! However, the subscribers don’t see themselves as subscribed to me. My daughter has subscribed to be in wp.com and now moved to wp.org, still, she can’t see my feed on her reader, probably it’s because of the point number 3 you mentioned. But then my question is, what is the use of having followers moved? They anyways need to use email based subscription right?

The “likes” belong to whatever social network is holding them. Facebook?

Your reader followers belong to the wp.com blog, not the wp.org blog.

I am talking about wp.com based likes which are accumulated prior to the move.

But then what is the use of implementing Jetpack’s subscriptions module? Its physically moved my followers from wp.com to wp.org. But they are actually not following my wp.org in reality then?

Just clarifying my doubts, just bear with me Steve ??

Your site is NOT LONGER part of wp.com. So any likes stored as part of wp.com are gone.

Jetpack subscriptions work via email, not via RSS feeds.

Thanks, Steve for the confirmation. Since followers can be ported I thought even the likes could be moved. But then nothing we can do here. ??

But one thing I noted, people can still follow a wp.org site (without emails) from the follow link while viewing the post in wp reader.

Yes, but they must manually add it to reader. It’s important to understand that wordpress.com is HOSTING company, Reader is their product, and it’s designed to provide value to (and help lock one in to being) wordpress.com customers.
