Just starting

I am no web guru, not by a long shot, so speak baby talk to me please. I have a website, I built it in Dreamweaver, I have a wordpress site which is not currently uploaded and visible. Here is the dilemma, I want to purchase a theme, build the site, then swap my old site for the new one. I just lucked out and didn’t know a thing when I signed up for WP, but luckily my site is still up and running, I feared that I had just wiped it all away. Question:

I can’t see the WP site, when I click “View Your Site” in the dashboard I get my old site. How can I see my WP site and keep the old site in place until the big day?
