• I have just upgraded to 3.2 but now I can’t use the buttons in edit post. They just show up as grey boxes without the name next to them, they don’t work when clicked. I have removed all plugins but still no luck. I tried heath check plugin, and this says [ Excellent: Your server is running PHP version 5.3.6 and MySQL version 5.0.77 which will be great for WordPress 3.2 onward.]

I have even tried other themes with no luck, just wondering what the problem could be ?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Hi esmi

Yes I have all of the above, but the problem is still there! I have another website that is still running on 3.1.4 I don’t want to upgrade this one just in case I get the same problems !

I know the reason for upgrading is good for security reasons, but I am tempted to revert back to an earlier version !

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

Have just uploaded fresh files and folders, but not solved the problem. I will go over everything again and see if I can spot the problem. Failing that I will either revert back to an earlier version, or just learn to live with it.

Who knows maybe with the next update install, things will be as they were in the admin panel..

I’ve encountered the same problem, and have narrowed i down to the fact that none of my PNG images are showing, JPgs and such are fine.

@ Tjhief I have done a quick test post, and png images do show in the post. Are the buttons in your edit post just grey boxes? Well I am still searching through my wordpress pages, still not found the problem !

It is a real pain when you upgrade to keep things running smoothly, only to find something has messed up when you do !

Aghhh I regret clicking update now !!

Yup, showing up as grey boxes, but none of my png images are working, so you’re one step ahead of me ??

Everything in my Admin area on the left side is missing after 3.2 upgrade.

Can’t get to anything. Some have said deactivate plug-ins, well I can’t if everything on the left side is gone. Tools, Plugins, nothing there.

I’m hating WordPress more & more each day. My XsitePro doesn’t have all these almost daily updates.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Yipeee I have got my buttons back in the edit post section, and everything seems to be running ok again. WOW I was really worried I was going to have to delete the whole database and start all over again.

So how did I do it ? I simply re-installed the version before 3.2

Ok I know you need to upgrade to keep things as safe and secure as possible. But I just could not get 3.2 to work !

I am going to run another install on another database folder, and from now on I will just do a test upgrade first. If it runs ok for me, then I will upgrade my live site.

Yes, did that too, but would like to learn of a solution in 3.2 if anyone knows one, please let us know!

Try to remove/rename the directory wp-content/languages
