You haven’t stated whether you’re using a slider or static image, but add this to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS:

.home .frontpage-slider .owl-carousel-item::before {
	opacity: 0;
}
.home .frontpage-banner::before {
	opacity: 0;
}

And it should cover both options.
